Enrolment Process

Thank you for your interest at applying for admission at the Nortwest college.  You can apply for admission at the admissions@developers.cityinstitute.edu.au by yourself or through an agent. Please download and fill out the enrolment form and send it together with the documents mentioned below. Please attach all requested documents to avoid delays in processing your enrollment.

Streamlined Visa Processing

Nortwest college is approved by the Australian Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) to participate in the Streamlined Visa Processing (SVP) arrangements. The SVP assists genuine students to be assessed with low immigration risk, irrespective of their country of citizenship, similar to students from Assessment Level (AL) 1.  The SVP does not guarantee a successful visa outcome for a student. All prospective students must meet additional criteria, including the Genuine Temporary Entrant criterion, in order to be granted a student visa.

How to apply:

Students are required to attend the compulsory Orientation session where they receive further information about studying at Nortwest college, student visa requirements, meet the college staff and receive general information about studying and living in Australia.
  • Nortwest college staff or Agent to collect, sight and certify that all the documents are true and correct copies
  • Completed enrolment form and all required documents are attached
  • Applicant or their Agent has compiled all required documentation 
including verified copies and forwards those as one email
  • Application is submitted as one file to Admissions Office at: admissions@cityinstitute.com.au (Please note that incomplete applications will not be processed until all document are provided or may be refused)
    • Completed and signed enrolment form
    • Certified copy of passport and visa (if applicable)
    • Certified academic transcripts (translated if not in English)
    • English proficiency evidence
    • OSHC for the applicant and their family
    • Financial viability evidence (where applicable)
    • Release letter (where applicable)
    • Police checks (where required)
    • Other relevant documents
  • SVP admission processing fee must be paid for application processing commencement
  • Admissions will process the documents and check for accuracy and course availability
  • Successful applicants receive a Letter of Offer (copy forwarded to Agent)
  • Letter of Offer lists the fees and refund policy and other useful information regarding enrolment conditions including:
    • Minimum required payment (e.g tuition fees, enrolment fee, OSHC)
    • Any terms and conditions attached to the offer
    • Requirement to sign the Acceptance of Offer and declaration of financial capacity and understanding of what the requirements mean
    • Rights and obligations of a student
  • Student will pay the minimum payment as outlined in the Letter of Offer
  • Student agrees with the conditions, fees and refunds policy and returns the signed Acceptance of Offer to the Admissions Office.
  • Student to provide any outstanding documents required to satisfy any condition attached to the offer
  • Once approved, Confirmation of Enrolment (COE) is created and forwarded to the agent and student
  • Agent assists student with their visa application under the SVP arrangements
  • Student or Agent will lodge application for student visa
  • Student / Agent is required to inform Nortwest college about visa granted or refused and provide a copy (visa or refusal letter) as soon as practicable
  • Student / Agent makes travel arrangements (Please note that students should arrive at least 3 days prior to the compulsory Orientation session, which is held in the week before the course commences).
  • Students are required to attend the compulsory Orientation session where they receive further information about studying at Nortwest college, student visa requirements, meet the college staff and receive general information about studying and living in Australia.

What you need:

  • Complete the enrolment form
  • Copy of your passport – personal details page
  • Copy of visa page from your passport (if applicable)
  • Certified copies of highest achieved education (see relevant course for academic requirements)
  • Certificate of your English proficiency (see relevant course for English level requirements)
  • Proof of payment of enrollment fees

Student visa requirements

  • A prospective student must provide evidence that they are a ‘genuine applicant’.
  • An applicant must satisfy the requirement that they are genuinely seeking to enter and stay in Australia for the purposes of study.
  • An applicant may be required to attend an interview as part of the assessment of this criteria.
  • An applicant must declare in the application that they will have access to funds to cover their tuition fees and living costs while in Australia.
  • Applicants from AL2 and AL3 will be required to show evidence of funds to cover tuition, travel and living costs.
  • Financial requirements for ALL family members are assessed regardless of whether they are traveling to Australia or not.
  • To ensure students have the best chance of succeeding in their studies, applicants are required to demonstrate that they have the appropriate English language proficiency for their course.
  • Assessment Level 1 & 2 applicants must provide evidence of meeting the English language proficiency requirements as per Nortwest college guidelines.
  • Assessment Level 3 applicants must provide evidence of having their English language proficiency assessed through any Department of Immigration gazetted official forms of testing.
  • All applicants for a visa to Australia must meet health requirements. Further information can be found here.
  • All costs related to the medical examination are applicant’s responsibility. If you undertake a medical examination and your application is not approved you will not be eligible for a refund of any costs you may have incurred.
  • All applicants for a visa to Australia must be assessed against the character requirements. Further information on character and police check requirements can be found here.
  • OSHC is insurance that assists international students to meet the costs of medical and hospital care that they may need while in Australia. OSHC also covers limited benefits for pharmaceuticals and ambulance services.
  • Students must provide evidence of cover for themselves and any accompanying dependants for the proposed duration of their Student visa in order to be granted a visa.
